The Dawn of Time: A New Era of Private Clubs

Jack Su's Innovative Design for a High-End Wine and Cigar Club

The Dawn of Time is not just a club, but a platform for reception, negotiation, leisure, and entertainment. Located in the commercial inner street of Duduo City, Guandu District, Kunming, the club stands out with its unique design. The inspiration for this design came from the Roman column at the entrance, which elicits thoughts of time. The space is rendered in the visible form with different indoor lights combined with natural light, creating a comfortable and high-class business atmosphere.

The club is spread over an area of 280 square meters, with three floors. The first floor is a high-rise high merchant, connecting the second and third floors through a fire door. The second floor is a separate open area without any regional division, while the third floor is composed of indoor areas and balconies. The structure is a sinking floor, and the staircase is not reasonably set, leading to serious space waste.

Jack Su and his design team member, Derrick Huang, have used grey decoration panel, white paint, black wood, with bronze color and dark green decoration to create a dignified and generous look. The cigar cabinet is made of pine wood, and the temperature in the room is controlled by the thermostat system, which reaches 24 hours constant temperature and humidity, facilitating the preservation of wine and cigars.

The design of the club is unique in its simplicity. The bottle is placed horizontally, exposing the bottle cap, and the project logo is highlighted through the plane composition. The gothic style is evolved from the ancient Renaissance Gothic elements by the designer. With the addition of artistic elements, the space atmosphere is pulled into another dimension.

The Dawn of Time is a testament to Jack Su's innovative approach to design. Despite the challenges, such as the sinking floor and the unreasonably set staircase, the designer has managed to create a space that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The design has been recognized with the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding design and innovation.
